Phad painting, practiced in Shahpura and Bhilwara, was once part of a larger ritual ecosystem tied to Bhopa-Bhopi performance. The scroll was never a standalone object. It depended on voice, movement, and a shared context of use. That system has weakened over time. This study examines how that shift has taken place, and how artists work within it.
