Environmentally fragile hill stations in India have experienced a tourism boom over the last few decades, and Coorg (Kodagu), famously called the "Scotland of India," has started showing signs of overtourism. The impacts are multifaceted, as the change affects the local economy, cultural practices and overall standard of living. This problem creates an opportunity to study how uncontrolled visitors can disturb the balance between vulnerable ecosystems, economies, and cultural identities.
