Tiruppur is at an important transition point now, from its USP cotton to adopting MMFs to stay competitive in the global market. This questions the cluster’s ability to remain sustainable in the future and whether it will deviate from the global benchmark it had set. It helped us uncover factors including the different ways “environmental sustainability” is defined by Cotton and MMF manufacturers.
