The tradition of community kitchen originated from the heart of Sufi shrines and is historically rooted in practices of Sufi saints. This tradition and practice was adapted, later reshaped and firmly institutionalised in Sikhism, creating one of the most renowned, loved and divine practices called ‘Langar This research project, rooted in culinary practices and inner workings of the community at Hazur Sahib, aims to explore the social, spiritual, and organizational dimensions of the ‘Langar’ practice.
