This research study focuses on the religious characteristics of two cities: Bodh Gaya and Gaya. Bodh Gaya is a famous Buddhist site, as it is believed that the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Meanwhile, Gaya is famous for many Hindus as it is believed that Sita Devi performed a ritual there attracting many pilgrims year round. Due to the close proximity of thee two cities, it has inevitably created conflict. The research delves into depth on the origin of the conflict, instigation of the conflict, and the resulting socioeconomic effects.
